Are You Paying Top Dollar for a “Bitchin Software Package”?
I happen to love old cars, and one of my favorite shows is called “Bitchin’ Rides.” The show is about a guy from Salt Lake City, Utah named Dave Kindig and his company, “Kindig It Designs.” He restores old cars and turns them into works of art. On the outside, they look like any other classic car, but on the inside, it is all modern with state-of-the-art technology.
He never talks about what he charges, or posts his prices online, but I understand that a couple of the cars he restored sold for upwards of $100,000. Another one he did sold for $400,000. Whoever bought that car must have really loved old cars.
Dave is a master at what he does, and no doubt, his work is worth every penny to someone who wants the look of a vintage car with all the modern technology. But why buy a Chevy Chevelle or an old Malibu for the same price as a 2020 Mercedes-Benz S 560?
Comparing apples to apples, if you put his car next to a restored 1970s Chevelle that some guy worked on in his garage for 6 months, of course you would see the difference. The “Bitchin Ride” is the winner hands down. But, is it worth the price? $100,000 is a lot of money these days. Do you really need all that? For most people, the answer would be, no. It would be nice to have in your garage if you were a classic car collector, but you wouldn’t take it out and drive it every day.
Most software developers come up with expensive custom packages with all the bells and whistles because flash sells. At P2 Automation, we are more like the classic ’70s Chevelle in the price range of $25,000. As a society, we have been taught that “bigger is better” and if something isn’t expensive, it isn’t any good.
Many of these companies build custom packages from the ground up and charge $50,000, $100,000, and more for it. They develop the idea and hire an IT company to write the code for it. And, of course, some people are willing to pay whatever it costs because of the reasons mentioned above. They’ve been taught to think with their wallets.
But why try to re-invent the wheel? You don’t have to build from the ground up, you can use an existing base and build what you need into it. That is our philosophy. Customizable over custom-made. You could start with a base like CRMPlus365 or P2xRM, and customize it with all the features you want and need for your company at a fraction of the cost of custom-made software packages. It is easier to paint a masterpiece if you already have an outline drawing. Then all you need to do is add shading and color to it.
Why start from scratch if you don’t really have too, and if your budget won’t allow it? Customizable software will give you everything you need at a price that is affordable. Our mission is to offer our customers good quality and features they need to help their business be successful and bring in more sales.
If you have the chance, check out the TV show. You’ll see what I mean. At the end of the day, it’s still just a car. Yes, it is awesome, and you could puff out your chest and brag to all of your friends about it, but you would never get your money’s worth out of all those features you won’t even use.
