Why I Moved Two Customers From P2xRM to CRMPlus365
I always find myself in awe of people who can admit when they’re wrong. I mean, this is something people avoid doing, so whenever I come across one who does, I respect them a lot.
Recently, I realized that a few of my P2xRM clients were working with the wrong software for their businesses. But this was not their fault, it was mine. I had set it up for them a year before. I knew I needed to make things right.
First let me give you a back story….
In early 2020, one of our clients was looking to choose between P2xRM and Microsoft Dynamics 365. Dynamics 365 was no doubt a better fit for this sales-focused organization, however, they decided to go for P2xRM simply because it fit their budget at $29 per user versus $95 per user.
Around that time, another company decided to go with P2xRM because of their unique subscription model. Some of the features of Dynamics 365 would never be useful for them. If they eventually decided to settle for it, they would have had to do some extensive customization which would make it completely out of their budget.
P2xRM was a great option for both companies, and everyone was happy. Or so they thought.
Then P2 Automation introduced CRMPlus365.
Being an highly customizable and affordable option to Dynamics 365, I knew CRMPlus365 was a better choice for both companies.
The first company had salespeople that live in Microsoft Outlook. CRMPlus365 is suitable for this company because it is built on the Microsoft Power Platform, so this means that its integration with Outlook would be seamless. Sales reps can stay in Outlook to track emails, appointments, tasks, and contacts.
The second company enjoyed viewing their data in P2xRM much more than the multiple Excel spreadsheets they had used in the past to run their business. But they were unable to slice and dice the data and come up with reports exactly how they wanted. I could have asked them to just add Power BI to P2xRM but there was no denying that CRMPlus365 would allow them to create unlimited views to see their data exactly how they wanted. And the company in question was a very Microsoft-focused one so it was certain that they would eventually want to take advantage of all the productivity tools that come with the base product.
Now I had a real dilemma.
Should I inform them that they were using the wrong product? And how was I going to? At first, I would drop hints like, “Oh! There’s this cool new product I’d like to show you one day.” Eventually, I opened up to them and told them they were on the wrong platform. I know it was your decision but I’m at fault too because I should have prevented you from going down that road. Still, it was a great decision back then. But now, there’s a better one and it’s CRMPlus365 . It is in every way the most suitable product for you. We need to go for it and I am willing to do whatever it takes to make that happen.”
Both of these customers have now migrated to CRMPlus365 and I know it was the right decision.
Regardless, P2xRM remains the right choice for many of our clients. Because P2xRM is a business management system, it’s absolutely designed for everything beyond sales. For an event company scheduling events, it becomes event management software, or for a financial planner keeping track of client portfolios, it becomes financial management software. It is the right fit because its customized for their business.
However, when there is more of a focus on sales, we can now recommend either Microsoft Dynamics 365 or CRMPlus365 depending on the requirements and budget of our clients.
We only have one reputation. I do not intend to destroy mine.
Making this right was not just a painful process for my company, it was also a really expensive one. But that was not going to stop us from doing the right thing.
